Swansea City are keen to sign former Cardiff City defender Tom James from Yeovil to strengthen their defensive options ahead of their return to the Championship.
The former Wales U19 right-back has been pinpointed by new manager Graham Potter as a player who could challenge last season’s first choice Martin Olsson, currently preparing with Sweden for a World Cup quarter-final against England.
James, 22, began his career with Cardiff but made just one first team appearance as an 18-year-old when he came on as a late substitute against Chelsea in May 2014.
The Swans need to improve their full-back options following the retirement of Angel Rangel and the sale of Stephen Kingsley to Hull at the start of last season.
James moved from Cardiff to Yeovil on a free transfer in January 2017 and is under contract with the League Two club until the end of next season.
Swansea are due to play their opening pre-season friendly away at Yeovil on Tuesday.
James made 51 appearances for the Glovers last season in all competitions.
