The update came after the Bluebirds showed they can still thrive without him by dismantling Barnsley, 4-0.
Salech was forced off on a stretcher during last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Stockport County after suffering a neck injury that required 13 minutes of on-field treatment, with his neck placed in a brace.
Although scans later confirmed Cardiff’s top scorer had escaped serious damage, the uncertainty around his recovery continues.
"I think he's just having some further tests. No fractures, no breaks, so that's a big relief," said Barry-Murphy.
"But I don't have any timescale because he's still in some discomfort.
“So we just have to determine the extent of what's happened to him and assess it on a day-by-day basis."

Despite that lingering concern, Cardiff underlined their strength in depth as they swept aside Barnsley at Cardiff City Stadium to stay clear at the top of League One.
Two goals from Chris Willock, plus strikes from Perry Ng and Omari Kellyman, sealed a dominant win that kept the Bluebirds four points clear of Lincoln and 10 ahead of Bolton and Stockport.
A 10-point gap between themselves and the play-off places looks pretty handy for Cardiff with 18 matches of the League One season remaining.
Barry-Murphy was delighted with both the result and the manner of the performance, particularly given Salech’s absence.
“I’m over the moon with the result and the performance, because we did a lot of work on Barnsley and prepared in a very detailed manner,” he added.
The players understood how big the challenge was and were very pleased to get the victory.

With Salech sidelined, Barry-Murphy opted to push Chelsea loanee Kellyman into a central role, a decision that paid off handsomely as the youngster grabbed a goal and an assist.
“I’ve seen him play as a centre-forward many times before when he was younger, so I was very confident that he could do the job. I just felt as if it was the right solution for this game,” said Barry-Murphy.
“I can see him very much as a centre-forward and I was very pleased with his performance.
“I was also very pleased with the performances of Callum Robinson and Isaac Davies when they came on.
“All those players are hungry to play and giving me a lot of food for thought in the absence of Yousef.
“There are really strong teams that are in great form in the top half of the table, but we’re in good form ourselves.
“I’m very pleased with the players’ efforts and the constant obsession of striving for improved performances is at the very front of our minds.”

While Salech’s situation is being monitored daily, Cardiff are also dealing with other fitness issues.
Centre-back Dylan Lawlor is expected to be sidelined for “two or three weeks” after damaging his medial ligament while warming up ahead of the Stockport match.
Off the pitch, goalkeeper Ethan Horvath is close to completing a permanent move to New York Red Bulls.
The 30-year-old United States international is currently in New York undergoing a medical as he looks to secure regular football ahead of a home World Cup.
"It [the transfer] is not complete but he's in America," Barry-Murphy said after the Barnsley win.
Barnsley boss Conor Hourihane felt key refereeing decisions went against his side, but conceded Cardiff were worthy winners.
“The referee said he felt it was a big distance away from goal for Robertson’s second foul, but my observation to him was that it was a blatant foul that stopped a decent transition moment,” he said.
“If they’d gone down to 10 men when we were only 1-0 down the tide might have turned. The second yellow could have been given and then they made the substitution at half-time because they thought they’d been lucky.
“The penalty shout was another moment that went against us – we felt there was contact. The two big decisions didn’t go for us but we still have to realise that a far superior team beat us tonight.
“All in all, it was bit of a humbling night for everyone and we need to realise where we are in the league and what they are bringing to the table compared to us. We are at two completely different scales.”
For Cardiff, the scale of the victory only reinforced their authority at the top of League One — and while they await clarity on Salech’s return, the message from the Barnsley performance was clear: they remain a formidable force, even without their leading scorer.
