George Thomason says he is “buzzing” to start a new chapter with Wrexham after completing a £1.2 million transfer from Bolton Wanderers.
It’s a move that makes him one of the most expensive signings in the club’s recent history.
The 24-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year deal with the Championship newcomers, and while the squad remains overseas on a pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand, Thomason is eagerly awaiting his first session at the STōK Cae Ras.
"I’m buzzing to be here, and I can’t wait to be a part of the journey that the club has been on,” Thomason told Wrexham’s official website.
“It’s a really exciting time to be a part of the football club and it’s going to be a really exciting season.”
Thomason arrives in North Wales having made 169 appearances and scored 13 goals for Bolton since joining from non-league Longridge Town in 2020.
His leadership qualities came to the fore last season when he wore the captain’s armband and contributed five goals in 46 games.
His transfer is believed to be worth around £1.2m, making him the Trotters’ most valuable outgoing player since Gary Madine’s £6m move to Cardiff City in 2018.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson — who gave Thomason his break in senior football during his time at Bolton — is pleased to reunite with the player.
"We're delighted to welcome George to the club,” Parkinson said.
“We're looking forward to getting him in training with the lads later this week and fully integrating him into the group."
Thomason had previously turned down a big-money move to Bristol City in order to continue his development at Bolton.
Reflecting on his departure, Wanderers boss Steven Schumacher praised the midfielder’s growth and contribution.
“George has been an excellent servant to this football club,” Schumacher said.
“His development here is a credit to his own hard work and the environment we aim to create.”
“This move represents a good opportunity for George. It also provides value to the club that we can use to continue strengthening. We thank him for his fantastic contribution and wish him nothing but success for the future.”
Wrexham’s summer business is gathering pace as they prepare for life back in the second tier for the first time in over four decades.
Thomason joins fellow arrivals Danny Ward, Ryan Hardie, and Liberato Cacace as the club’s ambitions continue to grow under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
