The Bluebirds saw their 12-match unbeaten run ended in a 5-2 loss at Plymouth Argyle, but they remain top of League One and 11 points clear of the sides outside the automatic promotion places.
For Robertson, the setback is less about the scoreline and more about the reaction when they go to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.
“Obviously the result wasn’t nice for the players, staff or fans, but that was our first loss in 12 games,” said the Bluebirds’ Australian midfielder.
“You’ve got to lose a football game at some point, but the main thing is how you bounce back, and we’ve had a good week so far and we’re ready to go again this weekend.

“If you do get too high when you win, something like what happened on the weekend can affect you more so than if you keep a level head both ways, so I think the team is pretty good at doing that and taking it game by game.
“The senior boys like Chambo [Calum Chambers] and Robbo [Callum Robinson] were there to really reiterate that we hadn’t lost in 12 games, so everyone stayed calm and we’re focussed on Saturday and a chance to bounce back that way.
“There’s no point dwelling on it now, we’ve just got to go to the next one and then the next one after that, building on what we’ve already done this season and trying to get the goal that we all want.”

That target is clear: an immediate return to the Championship. Robertson experienced promotion with Portsmouth in 2024 and believes Cardiff are well equipped to handle the pressure of the run-in.
"I think the main thing is to just stay calm and take game by game, prepare for it as we all as we have done all season, keep trying to win these games. That's how we're going to get promoted.

"We want to finish first. It's nice having that gap [to third place], but our main focus is to finish first, win the league.
"I'm personally a winner and I think most of the squad are behind that so that's what we're going to try to do."
Robertson’s own campaign reflects that resilience. Frozen out in the early weeks of the season, the 22-year-old has forced his way back into contention since late October, making 24 appearances and scoring three goals from midfield.
Head coach Brian Barry-Murphy had challenged him to raise his “intensity” in training, and Robertson responded.
The difficult spell has left him with a renewed appreciation for regular football.
"I was just grateful to be in any situation and to be playing, I'm really enjoying it.
"It's been nice to get a nice run of games. I just want to play football and to try and help the team with whatever I can."
Cardiff now travel to face Doncaster, who have won three of their last four league fixtures and pose another stern examination.
“They gave us a good game when they were here,” added Robertson.
“Doncaster are a good team, and every team in this league comes with their own qualities, and we just need to try to work out what they are and stop that.
"We’re expecting a similar challenge from them on the weekend.”
“I’m enjoying my football. It’s been nice to get a run of games. I think that three game week just gone is the first time I’ve played all three since last season.
“All I want to do is just play football, and to try to help the team with whatever I can.
