Sam Clucas could be on his way out of Swansea City with Burnley confident they can land the midfielder for around £12m.
Clucas joined the Swans from Hull City a year ago and made 29 Premier League appearances last season.
But after an encouraging start, his form became inconsistent and he rarely touched the heights of his two-goal contribution to the January victory over Arsenal.
Swansea are in no hurry to let him go for less than the £15m they paid Hull City last summer, but Burnley believe they can tempt Graham Potter into selling as the new Swans manager re-shapes his squad and trims the wage bill following relegation to the Championship.
Burnley are preparing for a first Europa League campaign this season after finishing seventh in the last campaign, 21 points clear of the Swans.
Their Europa League campaign begins on Thursday, July 26 as they head to Aberdeen for the second qualifying round first leg.
Clarets manager Sean Dyche was keen to sign Clucas when the 27-year-old chose Swansea last summer, not long after the Swans had allowed midfielder Jack Cork to move to Turf Moor.
Potter has been cautious in the transfer market so far, buying winger Joel Asoro from Sunderland on a four-year deal, and selling central defender Kyle Bartley to West Brom for fee in the region of £4m.
Swansea striker Borja Baston has also joined Spanish side Alaves on a season-long loan deal.
Subject to international clearance, the 25-year-old will spend a second straight campaign on loan in La Liga, having played for Malaga in 2017-18.
Borja – who joined Swansea for a club record £15.5m from Atletico Madrid in 2016 – moves to Alaves after they finished 14th in the Spanish top flight last season.
He was relegated with Malaga last season and has made just four League starts for the Swans.
