Professional Development Under-18 League Cardiff City 2, Wigan Athletic 2 Former England under-15 international Ntazana Mayembne scored two goals for Cardiff City in their Professional Development Under-18 League match against Wigan Athletic. Mayembe, a 16-year-old attacking midfield player whose family are from Zambia, fired City in front after five minutes and then equalised on 48 […]
Professional Under-23 Development League Nottingham Forest 4, Cardiff City 1 Coach Andy Legg made seven changes to his Bluebirds’ development team against Nottingham Forest and they slumped to defeat. Goalkeeper Brian Murphy, Tom Sang, Ben Margetson, Tavio Kouakou D’Ameida and Gary Madine, Jake Evans and trialist Liam Soule were called up for the match at […]
Harry Arter divided opinion among Cardiff City supporters during his time on loan with the club last season – and he cleaved managerial attitudes after the Bluebirds’ 1-1 draw at home to Fulham on Friday night. Admittedly, one of those bosses is his brother-in-law, Scott Parker. But there was enough in Parker’s case for the defence – after Arter’s dramatic sending off – to convince the neutral he, at least, had a decent argument. The fiery Arter was shown a second yellow card for a theatrical dive that appeared to come too late for it to be directly related to the clip of his heels by Cardiff’s Sean Morrison.
Harry Arter faces his Bluebirds pals, including Josh Murphy and Sean Morrison, when he plays for Fulham in their Championship visit to Cardiff City Stadium this evening (7.45pm). AFC Bournemouth midfield player Arter spent last season on loan at Cardiff and now he is at the heart of Fulham’s bid to regain Premier League status. […]
It’s not often Cardiff City are the underdogs at home in the Championship, but Neil Warnock believes that status will act as added incentive for his players against Fulham on Friday night. Warnock is excited, rather than concerned, about facing a team he feels is all set to return to the top flight next season after dropping down with the Bluebirds earlier this year. As he openly claims, if you finish above the Cottagers this season “you will go up automatically”.
Cardiff City 0, Luton Town 3 Neil Warnock’s Bluebirds crashed out of the Carabao Cup, but the manager was upbeat about this Friday’s crucial Championship home clash with Fulham. Promotion favourites Fulham visit Cardiff City in the final fixture before an international break and and manager Warnock said: “Bring them on – we will relish […]
Terry Phillips reflects on the playing career of Godfrey Ingram, who played for the Bluebirds and the Hatters. Luton-born Ingram, who celebrates his 60th birthday in October, started his career with his tome-town club and visited Cardiff City Stadium when manager Neil Warnock’s home team won 2-1 against the Hatters in a Championship fixture. This evening, […]
Under-18: Burnley 2, Cardiff City 1 Cardiff City’s youth team went up against former Bluebirds player Tony Philliskirk’s Burnley team in Lancashire – and were on the losing end of a hard fought match. Sunderland-born Philliskirk, who made 61 appearances for Cardiff between 1995 and 1998 and even turned to refereeing for a spell near […]
Neil Warnock admitted Cardiff City are just trying to “hang on to the coat-tails” of the Championship leaders even though they picked up their first points away from home this season. The Bluebirds manager saw his team draw 0-0 at Blackburn Rovers to stop the leakage of six goals conceded in their previous two away defeats. But an uneventful match, in which Cardiff lacked creative spark, leaves Warnock’s side back in 15th place, already six points behind leaders Leeds United, who could be joined at the top by Swansea City if they beat Birmingham City on Sunday.
Neil Warnock admits he once stepped in something nasty at Bury, but he is clear his former club has to be kept alive. Warnock was Bury manager 20 years ago – another lifetime from his current job with Cardiff City – and admits it was one of the few jobs he looks back on without much fondness. But as the League One side face expulsion from the Football League at midnight tonight, Warnock insists the game should ensure the Shakers do not go under.
Lee Tomlin’s re-awakening at Cardiff City has come after the hardest summer of his life, according to manager Neil Warnock. The controversial midfielder turned in a convincing claim for more game time on Wednesday night as he laid for the foundations for the Bluebirds’ 2-1 victory over Huddersfield. Tomlin has made just six league starts for the club since he joined from Bristol City in a £2.9m move from Bristol City two years ago.
Cardiff City 2, Huddersfield Town 1 Neil Warnock rang former Cardiff City and Newport County manager Len Ashurst in the aftermath of the Bluebirds’ 3-0 defeat at Reading on Sunday. Warnock called a player meeting on Tuesday morning and went into detail about why that had happened, speaking to every member of his first team […]
