All-Action Joe Hits Treble Top In Bluebirds Victory

Way to go Joe! Hat-trick hero of Cardiff City’s 4-2 victory at home to Birmingham City. I’ve known ‘Rallsy’ since he first signed for City getting on for a decade ago.  Full of energy, a box-to-box midfield player who shines in the Championship. Personally, I love watching all-action Joe play – and some of the […]

Ian Holloway Defends Neil Warnock . . . And Claims Sala Money Row Is “Horrendous”

Ian Holloway has come to the defence of Neil Warnock and claimed Cardiff City’s problems stem from their ongoing dispute over payments for Emiliano Sala. Former QPR, Crystal Palace and Blackpool manager Holloway believes Warnock’s efforts to build a promotion challenge in the Championship have been undermined by the fall-out from the Sala affair. With Cardiff still at odds over having to pay the first £16m of the Sala transfer fee to Nantes – and expected to be told by FIFA they must also pay the remainder of the £15m fee – the issue has still not been resolved.

Ben Wilmot Says Swans Are Building Something Special

Ben Wilmot insists Swansea City can build a promotion surge on the back of his goal that gave the club their derby day victory over Cardiff City. The Swans go to Wigan on Saturday, having climbed back up to fourth in the Championship table – just two points behind leaders West Brom – following their 1-0 won over the Bluebirds at the Liberty Stadium last Sunday. Wilmot’s goal ended a sequence of just one win in eight matches for Steve Cooper’s side and the defender – who was making his first League start since his loan move from Watford – insists the club have a springboard from which to launch a bid for promotion.

Steve Cooper Praises Swans New Boy Ben Wilmot After Deadly Derby Decider

Swansea City manager Steve Cooper paid tribute to Ben Wilmot as he came of age with the winner in the derby against Cardiff City. Wilmot scored the only goal of the game as Swansea edged Cardiff in the first Welsh derby for five years at the Liberty Stadium. The on-loan defender from Watford was only in the side because Joe Rodon has suffered an ankle injury that will require surgery and has put him out of action for club and country for months.

Ben’s Debut Goal Hands Swans Victory In Derby Clash

Swansea City 1, Cardiff City 0 Neil Warnock left Swansea a beaten man. It was the first time in seven visits he had suffered that experience. The Bluebirds manager had a good record in West Wales with one win and five draws in six visits, but he was left down and out by this defeat. […]

Watford (u-18) 3, Cardiff City (u-18) 2 The young Hornets stung Cardiff City with a last gasp winner in their Professional Under-18 Development League match at the University College London Athletic Ground, Shenley. Aaron Wainwright . . . From Box-To-Box Newport County Midfielder To Box Office Welsh Rugby Star

Wales back row forward Aaron Wainwright has been one of the success stories of the World Cup. But had Newport County got their man five years ago, then, as Graham Thomas reports, it would been a whole new ball game. If Aaron Wainwright had taken a different path at 17, then he could have been playing Premier League football this weekend instead of trying to help Wales into the final of the Rugby World Cup. The Wales flanker has been one of the breakout global stars of the tournament in Japan, his status already assured before his man-of-the-match performance in the victory over France in last week’s quarter-final.

No Red Mist And No Red Cards . . . Neil Warnock’s Derby Warning

Neil Warnock has warned his Cardiff City players to beware any red mist that could produce red cards in Sunday’s derby clash at Swansea City. The Bluebirds manager has compared the composure needed to that required by Wales in their Rugby World Cup semi-final against South Africa, which kicks off just three hours beforehand in Japan. In what Warnock described as the “best armchair day of the year” for Welsh sports fans, Wales face South Africa at 9am before Swansea host Cardiff in the Sky Bet Championship at midday, live on Sky Sports.

Warnock Faces Major Decisions Before Bluebirds Travel to Swansea For Sunday’s South Wales Derby

Neil Warnock has to make major selection decisions before Sunday’s South Wales derby against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium. Danny Ward or Robert Glatzal? For me Ward is the man, having produced a decent performance during the 2-2 draw at Millwall and scoring the first goal. Lee Tomlin or Callum Paterson? That one’s easy […]
