Ieuan Thomas has been added to British team for the World Championships after being given and IAAF invitation to compete in London between 4-13 August. The 28-year-old Cardiff AAC steeplechaser becomes the fifth Welsh athlete to join Team GB after receiving an official invite from the IAAF to take part. Ian Woosnam has backed calls for Wales to host The Open Championship at Royal Porthcawl in the near future. The former world No.1 believes his home country should be added to the list of host nations, with Northern Ireland set to resume hosting the tournament in 2019 at Royal Portrush.
