Tournament organisers have confirmed that two South African teams will expand the Guinness Pro12 into a Pro14 this season – with the competition split into two conferences. The Cheetahs, based in Bloemfontein, and the Southern Kings of Port Elizabeth are moving in, having been cut from Super Rugby earlier this year. Swansea City have been linked with Everton full back Callum Connolly as a makeweight in a potential £50m deal for Gylfi Sigurdsson. Ieuan Thomas has been added to British team for the World Championships after being given and IAAF invitation to compete in London between 4-13 August. The 28-year-old Cardiff AAC steeplechaser becomes the fifth Welsh athlete to join Team GB after receiving an official invite from the IAAF to take part. He is one of six extra athletes added to the British selection, taking the team up to a record high of 87.
