Charlie Hulson Beats Matt Clowes To Win Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K

Welsh international Charlie Hulson continued his run of fine form as he backed up his second place in the Armagh 5k with a convincing win in the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K. Although not as quick as he ran in winning the Telford 10K in January (28:12), the Liverpool Harrier made the most of the sunshine in the Welsh capital to lead home a field of 4,683 starters to take the tape in 29:32 – 26 seconds faster than he ran in winning the Chester 10K earlier in the month. Scott Overall ensured the early pace was hot enough to ensure a battle for the podium places, but Hulson was able to break clear at 8K to hold off Cardiff AAC’s Matt Clowes to win by five seconds. Overall was third in 29:48.

Pryce Stars On Historic Rally Debut

Osian Pryce made a stunning historic rally debut on the 2WD Rally North Wales by finishing fourth first time out in a 1978 Escort Mk2 – with only a rear puncture robbing the 25-year old Machynlleth-born driver of a second place finish. In addition to his impressive MSA British Historic Rally Championship debut, Pryce also finished third overall (second 2WD) in the Pirelli MSA Welsh Rally Championship standings to maintain his overall lead in the series. Co-driven by Dale Furniss, Osian had won Rally North Wales last year and was keen to tackle his local rally again – but this time by fulfilling a boyhood dream of contesting a rally in an iconic Escort Mk2. A brief test at the Sweet Lamb Rally Complex the day before was all Osian had before starting the 45 stage mile event, which was played out over the fast, smooth and slippery Dyfi, Big Ray and Gartheiniog gravel tests. Pryce was quickly into his stride, setting fourth fastest time on SS1, equalling event favourite Nick Elliott’s time on SS2 and completing SS3 in second position – just 13 seconds behind the experienced Elliott.

Harry Wilson Ready To Bridge Five Year Gap For Wales Against Mentor Luis Suarez

Harry Wilson is desperate to show he is ready for Liverpool and Wales after Craig Bellamy questioned the decision to cap him as a 16-year-old. Wilson broke Gareth Bale’s record to become Wales’ youngest-ever player at the age of 16 years and 207 days when he made a cameo appearance against Belgium in October 2013 – the final game of Bellamy’s 78-cap career. The dual-qualified Liverpool midfielder had attracted interest from England, and Bellamy said after that Brussels draw he was uncomfortable with fast-tracking the teenager into the senior squad to tie him to Wales.

The 30-year-old Kiwi was due to tie the knot with finance Susie back home in New Zealand this week, but instead had to postpone their big day to face La Rochelle in the biggest home game in more than a decade for the Welsh region. Only a late intervention from Scarlets head coach Wayne Pivac averted a major clash of loyalties and saved his side from losing one of their most influential players.
