Michael Hogan Has Century Mark Target As Glamorgan Face Oval Trial

Michael Hogan is closing in on a century of T20 wickets as Glamorgan bid to put injuries behind them and kick-start their Vitality Blast campaign against Surrey at The Oval on Tuesday night. Hogan needs just three wickets for the 100-mark in the T20 format, with 86 of those coming for the Welsh county. With Glamorgan back in sixth position in the south table, and a back injury ruling out Joe Burns, coach Robert Croft’s side could do with some Hogan inspiration.

Alfie Mawson – The £25m Man, About To Be Sold For £15m . . . With The Promise Of £5m More

Alfie Mawson is due to undergo a medical on Tuesday ahead of a proposed £20m move from Swansea City to Fulham. The deal is believed to be worth an initial £15m, with a further £5m dependent on appearances. Only two weeks ago, the Swans were asking for around £25m for Mawson after enquiries from both West Ham and Burnley, but it appears they did not want to allow the deal to rumble on towards the transfer deadline as happened a year ago with Gylfi Sigurdsson’s move to Everton.

Pryce Impresses On Wet And Wild Harry Flatters Rally

Torrential rain, strong winds and narrow twisty unforgiving roads weren’t the ideal combination to rally a powerful rear-wheel drive Escort on asphalt for the first time, but that didn’t stop Osian Pryce finishing second on a wet, wild and extremely slippery SGC Printing Harry Flatters National A Rally. Having starred on two gravel rallies, Suffolk-based specialists RallyXtreme was keen for Pryce to give its John Wilcox BDG engined Escort Mk2 a run on asphalt. Despite the atrocious conditions, and with no prior testing, the 25-year old Machynlleth-born driver set the third fastest time on the opening stage and was up to second after the first loop of stages, held over the famous undulating asphalt roads of the Epynt military range, north of Sennybridge. Co-driven by Dale Furniss, from Llanfyllin in Powys, Pryce started the second loop of stages just five seconds behind Gareth James/Steffan Evans, but a misfire and an overshoot at a chicane cost him time. Nevertheless, a great final loop saw him secure an excellent second place, finishing 24 seconds behind James, after all 11 stages and 70 stage miles had been completed. Neil Williams/Peter James finished third, a further 1min 18secs behind, in another Escort Mk2.

Spencer Sport Retakes British Rallycross Lead

West Wales motorsport squad Spencer Sport has regained the lead in the Toyo Tires MSA British Rallycross Championship after scoring victory at Croft Circuit. The last time the Penrhiwllan-based team raced at the North Yorkshire track was in May – when an accident saw its Mitsubishi Mirage RX Supercar roll heavily, costing them the lead of the series and initiating a major mid-season rebuild. It was therefore a case of unfinished business at Croft this time around, with driver Julian Godfrey on great form and scoring two seconds and a first in the three heats before winning the final.
