Josh Adams has been ruled out of a comeback this weekend as the Wales wing battles for fitness ahead of the Six Nations. The Worcester Warriors star has not played since injuring his hamstring last month and the club have warned that any setback now could lead to another six to eight weeks on the sidelines. That would be another significant blow for Wales who are already without Leigh Halfpenny for an unspecified further period as he tries to overcome the effects of concussion.

Welsh Athletics has selected a strong team to compete in the Celtic and Home Countries International match which is incorporated into the event in Belfast. European Cross Country Championships silver medallists Charlie Hulson, of Liverpool Harriers, and Swansea Harrier Kris Jones are selected fresh from representing Great Britain at the Simplyhealth Stirling XCountry last weekend.
Liam Williams’ first defence of his British Middleweight title will see boxing return to an iconic London venue. The Church Village man will face England’s Joe Mullender on March 8 at The Royal Albert Hall, which stages only its second professional boxing show since the 1990s. The talented Williams (19-2-1-KO14) produced a sensational stoppage of Mark Heffron at the Manchester Arena to claim the title in December and is back in action to defend his title against former English champion Mullender (11-2-KO5).

Welsh hockey prospect Beth Wood has won a major award to mark her ability and passion for the sport. The Christ College Brecon product won the Youth and Girls 18-and-under award from the Hockey Writers’ Club at its annual prize giving. Cardiff City’s pursuit of Emiliano Sala has hit the buffers again, according to reports in France. A deal for the Nantes striker is currently off the table after the clubs were unable to agree on a price, claim the reports. Sala flew to Cardiff for talks on Monday and met manager Neil Warnock and chief executive Ken Choo over a proposed £18m deal.
