Bolton visit the Liberty Stadium against a backdrop of unpaid players’ wages, takeover uncertainly, a relegation dogfight and an FA charge relating to an on-pitch fracas at Leeds United. The life of Tom Pryce will be celebrated at the Anglesey Circuit in North Wales this summer (13-14 July) when the Historic Sports Car Club’s first race meeting at the spectacular track is dedicated to the famous Welsh Formula 1 racer. Announced today, St David’s Day, the Tom Pryce Memorial Race Meeting will honour the memory of a hugely popular driver who had a meteoric rise to fame and a flourishing Grand Prix career that was tragically curtailed by an accident in the 1977 South African Grand Prix. In July, the first major historic race meeting to be held in Wales will honour Tom Pryce with a programme that includes the inaugural stand-alone races for Formula Atlantic as a period category. Pryce was a star of Formula Atlantic during his rise to stardom and the pair of Formula Atlantic races will be run for the Tom Pryce Trophy.

Osian Pryce will once again contest his home round of the Fuchs Lubricants Motorsport UK British Historic Rally Championship, the 2WD Rally North Wales, in a 1978 Escort Mk2 – as a fun day’s rallying to “fill the gap” whilst his 2019 rally plans are being finalised. The 26-year old Machynlleth-born driver contested his local event last year, making an impressive historic rally debut by holding a strong second position at mid-distance before a rear puncture saw him finish in fourth place. He also finished third overall (second 2WD) in the Pirelli Welsh Rally Championship standings, which maintained his overall lead in the series at the time. Co-driven by Dale Furniss, Pryce will once again drive a BDA-engined Ford Escort Mk2 supplied by Suffolk-based specialists RallyXtreme. It’s the same car in which he contested last year’s Rally North Wales in, and it is the same car in which he recorded fastest time on every stage of last year’s Red Kite Rally to record his first event win in a rear-wheel drive car – adding to victories achieved in front and four-wheel drive machinery.

Jayne Ludlow has promised Wales will show more changes ahead of a second friendly in Spain as preparations start for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2021 qualifying campaign. The Wales manager saw her team play out a 0-0 draw with the Republic of Ireland in Marbella – the first of two fixtures against the Irish, with the second taking place on Tuesday. Ludlow says she is using the games to experiment ahead of the qualifiers which begin in August.
Ben Cambriani will make his Wales Sevens debut this weekend with coach Richie Pugh hopeful the Ospreys wing can land lucky red in Las Vegas. Cambriani – the son of former Wales rugby league star Adrian – is one of five changes for the tournament which acts as the North American leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series and sees Wales take on Australia in their first match this evening. A standout performer for Wales U18 last season, Cambriani is joined by Ethan Davies as the fly-half returns from injury. Davies was the second-top points scorer in the 2016/17 World Series.
