Celtic Dragons will be backed by a noisy new following from the Rhondda when they next play at home on March 25. A convoy of coaches carrying 125 fans from the Rhondda Netball set-up will help turn up the volume for the clash against London Pulse, which is being screened live on Sky Sports. The supporters – a mix of representative players from clubs in the Rhondda and their parents, who go by the name of the Wolfpack – will be hoping to inspire the Vitality Netball Superleague club to their first home win of the season.
Ross Moriarty will approach Saturday’s Grand Slam clincher against Ireland as he does every games for Wales – fearing it could be his last. The Dragons No.8 has revealed he frets about losing his place in Warren Gatland’s team, but that insecurity drives him to deliver his best performances. Moriarty’s form and influence in this Six Nations campaign has enabled Wales to make light of the absence of Taulupe Faletau, arguably the most talented player in a red shirt over recent seasons but who was injured for the autumn internationals and then ruled out again on the eve of this tournament.

Builth Wells rally champion Jason Pritchard got the defence of his Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship title off to superb winning start yesterday, with victory on the Port Talbot Motor Club-organised Rallynuts National Tour of Epynt. Co-driven by Phil Clarke, the 30-year old mastered the wildly changing conditions – which ranged from dry roads and sunshine to strong winds and a complete whiteout after heavy sleet showers – in his North Road Garage Ford Focus WRC05. While a high retirement rate decimated the quality entry, a brilliantly controlled performance by Pritchard made the extremely difficult look easy.

Amy Evans says Wales Women are determined to finish the Six Nations with a flourish when they host Ireland on Sunday. The Ospreys prop was player of the match in the dramatic 17-15 victory over Scotland at the weekend and insists Rowland Phillips’ side are in the mood for back-to-back victories to end their campaign. Wales had gone four matches without a win – including three in the tournament – before their triumph in Glasgow and now Evans believes the momentum is in their favour.
George North believes Wales have yet to hit top gear in this year’s Six Nations despite being one win away from a Grand Slam. The Wales wing may have been part of a team that extended their winning run to 13 matches with an 18-11 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield, but North thinks there is far more to come. Wales will host defending champions Ireland on Saturday in Cardiff where another victory will seal the Grand Slam and crown Warren Gatland’s side Six Nations winners for the first time since 2013.
Junior Hoilett has backed Neil Warnock to keep Cardiff City in the Premier League – and dismissed claims some teammates had lost faith in their manager. Hoilett scored the first and created the second goal as the Bluebirds beat West Ham 2-0 at the weekend to remain in touch with the clubs just above them. It was a victory made essential by their rivals – Brighton, Newcastle and Southampton also winning – but the Canadian striker also feels it gave clear evidence to back up his rejection of the notion of a divided dressing room.
Elfyn Evans has secured a podium finish on this weekend’s Rally Mexico, bringing his Ford Fiesta WRC home in third place. The result marks the eighth FIA World Rally Championship podium of Evans’ career, and his first alongside new co-driver Scott Martin. Rally Mexico is considered one of the toughest events in the FIA World Rally Championship, and Evans took that in his stride – not making a single mistake and delivering impressive pace and consistency throughout the weekend.
Dewi Griffiths got a taste of what he can expect when he makes his London Marathon debut in seven weeks time as he finished fourth in the Vitality Big Half. Hadleigh Parkes is ready to spill more blood to ensure there is another red-ribboned Grand Slam for Wales next week. The Scarlets centre had various cuts and bruises bandaged and wrapped after helping his team to their hard-earned 18-11 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield. Chris Jenkins will probably have to pinch himself when he reflects on what he did on Friday night at the Royal Albert Hall in becoming only the seventh Welsh boxer to win the British welterweight title. Some of the greatest names in Welsh boxing history have won the title in the past – Johnny Basham (1914), Eddie Thomas (1949-51), Cliff Curvis (1952), Brian Curvis (1960-65), Pat Thomas (1975-76) and Colin Jones (1980-81) – and they’d all won at the Albert Hall.

Elfyn Evans is locked in an intense battle near the front of Rally Mexico, with the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team driver holding second place with a 2.2 second advantage over Ott Tänak (Toyota) after Saturday’s action. Evans, co-driven by Scott Martin, has shown speed and consistency throughout the event in his Ford Fiesta WRC. Regularly posting top stage times, the Dolgellau ace has so far had the measure of this notoriously difficult event – only lucking out through the second pass of Otates (SS14) where the grip levels were particularly low. Geared up for Sunday’s final leg, Evans is on course to bring home some silverware and is determined to deliver the best possible result.
