Wales Women Hammer Ireland And Lift The Spirits Of Injured Sioned Harries

Injured Wales Women star Sioned Harries saluted her teammates after the finished their Six Nations in style by hammering Ireland, 24-5. Harries has been forced to sit out the whole tournament with an ankle injury, but had her spirits lifted by a hugely impressive Wales display that was rewarded with fourth place in the final championship table – their best finish since 2016. The bonus point victory was built on rock solid defence, but Wales also showed they could cut loose as they claimed a four-try bonus point victory at Cardiff Arms Park with tries for Jess Kavanagh, Carys Phillips, Beth Lewis and Jasmine Joyce.

Sam Warburton Says Only The All Blacks Should Worry Wales . . . And That Might Not Happen Until World Cup Final

Sam Warburton says the depth Wales coach Warren Gatland has created puts the Six Nations champions among the leading contenders heading to this year’s World Cup in Japan. The former captain believes only New Zealand hold anxieties for him as opponents at the tournament that starts in six months. Wales convincingly beat defending champions Ireland 25-7 in Cardiff on Saturday to claim the Grand Slam and a first Six Nations triumph since 2013, and Warburton says the now No.2-ranked team in the world have no peer, bar, perhaps, the All Blacks.

VAR Humbug . . . Graham Potter Refuses To Blame Swans’ FA Cup Defeat On No Tech

Graham Potter chose not to get involved in the missing VAR controversy and left it to Pep Guardiola to shrug his shoulders at the nonsensical rules that may have cost Swansea City a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Of course, Manchester City were so superior in the final half an hour – as they came from 2-0 behind to beat the Swans 3-2 at the Liberty Stadium – they may well have scored two perfectly vaild goals instead of the pair of dodgy ones that caused such a furore. But Potter declined to question a system that uses video technology at Premier League stadia, but not those equally well-equipped that were in the top division until last season.

Wales Move To No.2 Team In The World As Joe Schmidt Marvels At Warren Gatland’s Record

Warren Gatland has been praised by his countryman and rival Joe Schmidt after making history with a third Grand Slam – and lifting Wales to No.2 in the world rankings. The two coaches may have been at odds over whether or not to close the Principality Stadium roof before the game, but Ireland coach Schmidt bowed to Gatland’s sustained record of success after the Wales mastermind had clinched his third Grand Slam. The victory means Wales will now rise to the second best team on the planet when the World Rugby rankings are updated after this final round of Six Nations matches. Only New Zealand, the World Cup holders, are above them.

Wales: The Unforgettable Team And The Coach Who Has Triple Grand Slam Memories

The team that Warren Gatland said have forgotten how to lose duly won the Six Nations Grand Slam. They did it in a certain Welsh wet-weather style, too, winning 25-7 and making a mockery of Ireland’s supposed advantage of playing under an open roof at a rain-swept Principality Stadium. It also stretched their unbeaten run to 14 matches. They even came close to becoming a team that could not remember how to concede a point until Jordan Lamour’s try saved Ireland from complete humiliation in the final move of the match.

Farewell To The Six Nations For The Wales’ Fab Four And Not Just The Duo

It’s goodnight from them – Warren Gatland and Shaun Edwards – as they prepare for their final Six Nations games with Wales. But Rob Howley and Robin McBryde are also on their way and Harri Morgan says they have been worthy members of the band. A Grand Slam on the line, Warren Gatland and Shaun Edwards’ final Six Nations games at the helm of the Welsh national side – likewise for Joe Schmidt, the Ireland coach, who has added Storm Gareth as a variable to the final day equation, and and Irish captain in Rory Best who is also bowing out of the tournament.
