Evans Secures Fourth At Challenging Rally Chile

Elfyn Evans finished in fourth place at what turned out to be a very difficult and challenging Rally Chile. Having set some good times on this new event, Evans was too far off third place to challenge for a podium position, so made sure he and co-driver Scott Martin made no mistakes on the final day to reach the finish and bag some valuable points. The M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC driver remains fifth in the FIA World Rally Championship drivers’ standings, but has closed to within just one point of fourth placed Kris Meeke (Toyota). The top three drivers – Ott Tänak (Toyota), Sébastien Ogier (Citroen) and Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) – are pulling away from the rest of the field.

Dreams Come True For Furniss On Manx National Rally

He’s co-driven on the Isle of Man many times, but driving on the Manx National Rally had always been a dream for Dale Furniss. And the 30-year old navigator from Llanfyllin proved that he’s just as talented behind the steering wheel when he finished 17th overall and second in class after a stunning drive in his road-rally spec Volkswagen Golf GTI. Co-driven by 18-year old Sion Williams from Blaenau Ffestiniog, Furniss set off at a great pace to complete the opening stage 30th overall and fourth in class. As darkness fell, he put his road rallying experience to good use in the slippery conditions to move up to 17th overall and second in class by the end of Friday’s opening day.

Untouchable Pritchard Gives A Manx Rally Masterclass

Jason Pritchard dominated the Manx National Rally, winning the two-day, 16 stage, 133 stage mile, event by over three minutes in his North Road Garage-backed Ford Focus WRC05. It was the fifth time that the 30-year old Builth Wells driver had won the Isle of Man classic, equalling Kenny McKinstry’s record number of event victories. Co-driven by Phil Clarke, Pritchard had opened up a 57 second lead after a slippery first eight stages on Friday night – with not even showers of rain and darkness slowing him. His rivals had a glimmer of hope on Saturday when his car’s launch system failed on SS10 and then he left his braking a little bit too late for a corner on SS11, locked up and stalled the engine. But it was only a temporary glitch, as Pritchard put his foot down on the now dry and fast stages to run away with the lead.

Newport go to Mansfield this evening (6.00) level at 1-1 after the first leg and Matt says: “We always knew the League is our bread-and-butter, because it’s over 46 games.

Liam Williams Joins Wales’ Elite . . . And Could Surpass Them All This Season

Welsh rugby’s European “Top 10” has just expanded to 11 following Saracens’ epic fight back to topple Leinster in the Heineken Champions Cup final. Liam Williams shone in his alternative red kit as the English champions came from 10 points down to score 20 unanswered ones of their own to win the title for the third time in four years. The 20-10 victory in Newcastle means Williams becomes the 11th Welsh player to win Europe’s top tournament – although no Welsh team has lifted the trophy.

Evans Set For Final Day At Rally Chile

Elfyn Evans will start today’s final leg of Rally Chile in fourth place, although with a big gap ahead and behind him, he might need someone to hit bad luck if he is to move up any more. Evans and co-driver Scott Martin made another good start on day two in their M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC, setting the third fastest time on the opening speed test and taking time out of nine-time World Champion Sébastien Loeb. As the day wore on the Dolgellau driver struggled to match Loeb on certain sections, but despite falling adrift of the fight at the front, Evans delivered a clean and conscientious drive.

Rock Star Neil Warnock’s Final Strut On The Premier League Stage

Football’s rebellious rock star Neil Warnock bows out of the Premier League today – most likely with a smile, a glare, and possibly a punch of the air. The Cardiff City manager – whose Liam Gallagher-style peering into a touchline camera last week went viral on social media during the Crystal Palace match – is taking charge in the top flight for what is likely to be the final time. Warnock has not confirmed it will be his last appearance inside a Premier League technical area. But with the Bluebirds already relegated, doubts still surrounding his own immediate future, and only a year left on his present contract, it’s a reasonable assumption the old touchline warrior will be going into battle for the final time when he steps out to face Manchester United at Old Trafford.
