Rali Bae Ceredigion Issues Warning To Rally ‘Cheats’

The organisers of the Get Connected Rali Bae Ceredigion, which will be Wales’ first closed road stage rally, have issued a warning to any competitor found driving the route on an illegal reconnaissance. The roads that will make up the four stages on the Aberystwyth University-based event, which takes place on Sunday 8 September, are widely known – and whilst they are open to the public to drive down at any time, by entering the event competitors are forbidden to drive down these roads. Any competitor who has cause to drive along a stage for whatever reason, be it their commute to work or to visit family or friends, must inform the rally organisers in advance – otherwise it will be deemed unauthorised practice, the penalty for which is exclusion from the event.

Gareth Anscombe: I Left Cardiff Blues To Play At No.10 And To Improve

Gareth Anscombe has revealed he left the Cardiff Blues to join the Ospreys because he wanted to be back at No.10. The Wales fly-half moved from the Arms Park to the Liberty Stadium at the end of last season after a protracted stand-off over a new contract following five years in the capital. Anscombe appealed against the new banding system for Wales players’ salaries brought in by the Welsh Rugby Union – arguing he should have been in the top tier – but after that was rejected on the basis he had yet to make a Lions squad he opted to leave the Blues and join the Ospreys.

No Bubbles For Morris After Disappointing Spa Treatment

The bad luck that has impeded Seb Morris in this year’s British GT Championship continued at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium on Sunday, when two penalties and a tyre blow-out on his Bentley Continental GT3 ruined any hopes of a champagne-spraying podium finish. With his JRM team-mate Rick Parfitt Jnr having to serve a stop/go penalty early in the 120-minute race following contact with a Lamborghini, a second penalty had to be served during hour two after officials deemed the mid-race pit-stop to have been fractionally too short. Incredibly, a puncture with around 20 minutes to run added real insult to injury and necessitated a third unscheduled stop. Wrexham-born Morris eventually went on to take the chequered flag in an exasperating 12th position.

Damian Cole has extended his lead in the Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship to 32 points, after a fantastic drive on the Carryduff Forklift Down Rally. The Abergavenny driver started a little too cautiously on a very wet and slippery opening stage, but after that he flew over the fast and bumpy closed country lanes of Northern Ireland in his Get Connected/Energizer-backed Ford Fiesta WRC. Co-driven by Paul Spooner, Cole couldn’t quite regain all the time he’d lost on the first stage to John Stone (Fiesta WRC), but second place points strengthens his title challenge.
