Colwill is expected to miss around three months after ankle ligament surgery, leaving a sizeable creative gap in Brian Barry-Murphy’s side as they continue their League One promotion push.
But Salech believes the squad has already shown it can cope without key figures and is confident Cardiff will find solutions again.
“Ruben is a fantastic player and he has had a really good first half of the season,” said Salech.
“But we know he’s not going to play in these games or train with us over the next few months, so we're already trying to see how we will play without him.
“We also lost Ollie Tanner in the first month of the season. He had played almost all the minutes up to that point, so it's just about making some adjustments.
“Every season you are going to have injuries and you have to adapt.
“In the first game, we played without Rubin we won 3-0, so hopefully we will continue to improve and do well until he comes back - and then do even better when he is back.”
With seven league goals already this season, Salech has been central to Cardiff’s rise to the top of League One and will be expected to shoulder even more attacking responsibility over Christmas.
Cardiff face Huddersfield Town on Saturday before a packed run of fixtures, including two matches against Stevenage.
“I think it's probably the most important part of the season right now. There are a lot of games, a lot of games against teams who are around us,” he said.
“Right now is a chance to show that we want to take a step away from the teams around us and show that we can go for the promotion and win the season.
“This period is my first winter period in the English football system. I'm used to having a vacation now and being on a beach.
“But I've been looking forward to playing these games - Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday and around Boxing Day and New Year's Eve.”
Off the pitch, Salech has enjoyed a more personal milestone: finding himself inside this season’s Panini sticker album.
The 23-year-old, who grew up swapping football cards in Denmark, was delighted to discover he had made the cut as sticker No 538 among the 788 EFL players included.
“As a kid growing up I collected football cards, not stickers. I remember every year getting football cards from my family,” said Salech.
“I used to swap cards with friends at school and show off my collection. It's funny to now have my own football card to show friends and family – and a shiny one as well!
“I remember the shiny ones as well – you had made it when you were shiny, right?
“I’ve received my sticker and right now it's on my bedside table. I think it would be a good Christmas present for friends or something.”
For Salech, the coming weeks promise to be eventful both on the pitch and in the playgrounds of sticker collectors—just as Cardiff look to prove they can stay on course without one of their brightest talents.
