Manager Jayne Ludlow and her Wales team aim to extend their World Women’s Cup unbeaten run against Bosnia Herzegovina on Tuesday (12.30pm).

They won 1-0 against Kazakhstan at home on Friday to stay top of group one, ahead of England, and Ludlow says: “We’ll have a certain game plan now in Bosnia and hope it’ll go the way that we plan.

“If it doesn’t work, we have to be adaptable and tonight showed that – that is going to be a massive part of us going forward too.”

Hayley Ladd, who scored the Welsh winner against Kazakhstan, says: “It was exhilarating to take the three points.

”We were probing for the whole 90 minutes so to finally score the goal was a really great feeling.

“It’s something we’re not too used to, just breaking teams down because we pride ourselves on being very good defensively.

“Breaking teams down and taking the game to the opposition is something we’ve got to improve on, possibly get on the scoresheet sooner.

“We need to be creative, we need to be fast with our movement, moving the ball quickly.”

Wales goalkeeper Laura O’Sullivan has kept a clean sheet in each of their opening three qualifying games, and Ladd said: “Laura is a brilliant goalkeeper, we have a lot of trust in her.

“For a player in defence she was brilliant in the game, calm on the ball.”

The match against Bosnia, at the BiH Training Centre, Zenica on Tuesday afternoon, is crucial to the dreams of Ludlow and his players to make history by being the first Wales Women’s side to qualify for a major tournament.

“As soon as we set out for the campaign that was our goal,” said Ludlow. “The long-term is that qualification.

“To qualify to the playoffs we would make history for a Welsh team – that in itself is what we’re trying to do.”

Midfield player Alice Griffiths, aged 16, made her senior international debut against Kazakhstan
