Liverpool striker Harry Wilson will lead the Wales attack in their Uefa under-21 Championship match against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Bangor FC.
Wilson joins a team who have earned six points from three away fixtures in their group and now have back-to-back home fixtures.
Manager Robert Page and his players take on Bosnia in Bangor this evening (Friday) before playing Romania at the same venue on Monday (both 6pm). Both matches will be broadcast live on S4C Sgorio.
Wilson, now fully fit after an Achilles strain kept him out early on this season, had a spell with the senior team earlier this year and is set for his first under-21 Championship appearance and says: “The lads have started well. They were tough games against Switzerland and Portugal away, but we came away with three points and a plus goals difference.
“I’ve played at Bangor FC for Liverpool and Wales and always seem to be among the goals.
“There will be a relatively big attendance and we are aiming to give the supporters something to shout about.
“It was a great experience training with the senior squad. I missed pre-season because of injury and that was frustrating, but I’ve been back playing for the under-23s at Liverpool and scoring.”
Rhys Abbruzzese and Daniel James are out of the Wales squad because of injuries and they have been replaced by Rhys Norrington-Davies and Alex Babos.
Page’s boys won 3-1 against Liechtenstein in their last group fixture thanks to goals from George Thomas (2) and Matthew Smith at Sportpark Eschen-Mauren.
The result moved Wales into second place in Group 8, a point behind Romania, who are in North Wales on Monday. They won 3-0 in Switzerland and lost 2-0 against Portugal away in their opening matches.
Manager Vinko Marinovic and his Bosnia side are full of confidence to Wales following their surprising 3-1 victory over Portugal last month.
Monday’s opponents Romania play Portugal before heading to Bangor for their clash with Wales.
