Former Wales international, Cardiff City and Swansea City midfielder Barrie Hole has died. He was 76.

The Swansea-born player began his career with the Bluebirds making more than 200 appearances following his debut in February 1960 as a 17-year-old.

He helped the club reach the old First Division in 1960.

Hole, whose father Billy was also a professional with the Swans before WWII, then had spells with Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa where he fell-out with then manager Tommy Docherty.

He returned to his home town in 1970 in a £20,000 deal and had two seasons with the Swans, scoring five goals in 94 appearances, before retiring in 1972.

Hole, whose brothers Alan and Colin also had spells with the Swans, made his Wales debut against Northern Ireland in 1963 and won 30 caps for his country with his final game against Romania in 1971.

After retirement, he became like his father, a shopkeeper in Swansea
