That is the sum the Bluebirds are effectively suing Nantes for in the wake of the transfer and tragic death of Emiliano Sala, the Argentine forward sold to the capital club by the Ligue 1 team in January 2019, for £14.84m (17m Euros).
At the time, Cardiff were fighting for survival in the Premier League and hoped their club record signing would provide the goals to keep them in the top flight.
They were eventually relegated at the end of that season.
On 21 January 2019, two days after the transfer had been agreed, Sala and 59-year-old pilot David Ibbotson travelled via a private plane that disappeared over the English Channel.
An official search operation was immediately launched, but soon called off.
On 7 February 2019, Sala's body was recovered from the wreckage of the plane during a second search.
The body of Ibbotson, who it later emerged was both unlicensed and unqualified to fly at night, was never recovered and it was found that both men had been exposed to high levels of carbon monoxide during the flight.
Nantes demanded full payment for the transfer of Sala from Cardiff and FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport both finally ordered the club to pay the full £14.84m to the French side.
Now, Cardiff are chasing recompense for Nantes for being accountable for the actions of an agent involved in the deal, Willie McKay, who they initially denied having any involvement with.
Further investigations by Cardiff’s legal team have unearthed new evidence that will be put to the French court on Monday.
Part of Cardiff’s case includes calculations on what impact Sala might have made on their relegation battle.
The club have since suffered another subsequent relegation and are currently playing in League One.
Once submissions from both sides have been heard, the final decision of the commercial court is expected in the spring.
Whichever side loses will then have the right to go to the French Court of Appeal.
