Swans Told £45m Gylfi Sigurdsson Deal Is A Disaster

Swansea City’s impending sale of Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton for £45m is a disaster for Paul Clement, according to pundit Ian Wright. Sigurdsson is expected to undergo a medical in Liverpool on Wednesday after the two clubs finally hammered out a deal, understood to be some way below the Swans’ initial demand for £50m, even with add-on payments. Swans manager Clement is now expected to finalise deals to bring in former striker Wilfried Bony from Manchester City and West Brom’s Nacer Chadli, although moves for Joe Allen from Stoke City are likely to remain rebuffed.

Premier League Clubs To Back Paul Clement's Call For Shorter Transfer Window

The transfer window could soon be closed before the start of each season if plans being discussed by Premier League clubs go ahead. The debate over an earlier close to the transfer market was re-ignited by Swansea City manager Paul Clement at the weekend. Clement argued that uncertainty over recruitment and departures of players was not only hampering the planning of managers, but also short-changing fans with players kept on the sidelines.

Sean Morrison – The Rock On Which Neil Warnock Has Chosen To Build His Cardiff Castle

Something is stirring at Cardiff City after three straight victories, the latest of which was a 3-0 drubbing of Championship promotion favourites Aston Villa. Kenneth Zohore, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Junior Hoilett are the focus of much of the praise, but Josh Thomas reckons stability has stemmed from the impressive leadership of Sean Morrison. Over the summer, Cardiff City were hard at work, strengthening the team and holding onto their best players. With three wins from three, the Bluebirds already look a much better, improved and composed team ready to take on any side in the Championship.

Hook, Hook, Hooray! James Is Back In Town But Dan Evans Is Not For Budging

James Hook is back in Welsh rugby – older, wiser, and wetter than before. Owen Morgan was at the Brewery Field where Ospreys fans raised a glass in pre-season appreciation. At precisely 8.39pm on a rain-lashed Bridgend evening, one of the prodigal sons of Welsh rugby made his return to home soil, or, should I say, home mud. There may not have been a fatted calf prepared for James Hook’s return on Friday, but the burger stalls were certainly doing a brisk trade as fans tried to seek shelter and take their mind of the awful August weather.
