Sol Bamba insists the bubble hasn’t burst for Cardiff City. The Bluebirds centre-back clawed a point with an injury time equaliser against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday as his team failed to win for a third match on the trot. But even though Cardiff have fallen out of the Championship’s automatic promotion places on goal difference – following their faultless five victories at the start of the campaign – Bamba reckons they will rise again.

The Dragons claimed the regional result of the weekend, with their first league victory since January. Geraint Powell was there to see it and believes the players’ win over Connacht backed up the impressive efforts of those behind the scenes. I outlined last week why elite non-Test match rugby in Gwent has always been best played and generated the best atmosphere under evening floodlights (http://www.dai-sport.com/15203-2/), and Friday evening at a rocking Rodney Parade did not disappoint as the Dragons secured a 21-8 win over 2015-16 champions Connacht. In an impressive first-half attacking performance, the Dragons dominated and raced to a 21-3 lead through tries by Hallam Amos and man of the match Elliot Dee, plus the boot of Gavin Henson.

Paul Clement has insisted that in Italy they would have been applauding in admiration of Swansea City’s defensive ability in their 0-0 draw against Tottenham at Wembley. It may not have won the Swans manager too many tributes amongst Spurs fans on Saturday night, but Clement believes the attributes revealed by a third successive away game without conceding a goal should be acknowledged. Spurs had over 70 per cent of the possession and most of the clear-cut chances but could not break down a stubborn Swansea side.

Bernard Jackman believes he’s turning the tanker around at the Dragons after years of steaming in the wrong direction. The region’s head coach has claimed his squad were “mismanaged” in recent seasons, but that good times lay ahead following their first victory since the summer Welsh Rugby Union takeover. Jackman saw his team record their first league victory since January when they beat Connacht 21-8 at Rodney Parade on Friday night.

The Ospreys will turn to Alun Wyn Jones and Rhys Webb in order to prevent a drama becoming a full-blown crisis. The Lions pair are to be brought back for their first matches since the summer tour following the region’s poor start to the Guinness Pro14 campaign. Head coach Steve Tandy has confirmed his two biggest names will be pressed into action for their next games – away to Treviso in Italy and then the trip to South Africa to play the Cheetahs.
