‘The Beast’ Is Back And Wants To Feast On Wales

Tendai ‘The Beast’ Mtawarira is back for the Springboks and will be chasing another win over Wales in the 2017 Under Armour Series at the Principality Stadium on Saturday, 2 December. The 32-year-old Sharks loose head missed the final round of the Rugby Championship due to family reasons, but has been included in the 34-strong tour party for next month’s European tour. Mtawarira made his debut against Wales in Pretoria in 2008 and so far has eight wins from 10 games against Warren Gatland’s men in 95 caps. Cheetahs back row man Uzair Cassiem, who marked his Test debut with a try against Wales in last year’s defeat in the Welsh capital, is one of four member of the Guinness PRO14 newcomers in the tour squad. Fellow flanker Oupa Mohojé, wing Raymond Rhule and centre Francois Venter join him for the tour that includes Tests against Ireland, France, Italy and Wales.

Callum Paterson Says Neil Warnock Showed Faith When Few Else Did

Callum Paterson has promised to repay the faith of Neil Warnock for taking a gamble on him at Cardiff City. The Scottish international defender made his home debut against Millwall at the weekend, five months since Warnock signed him from Hearts and nine months since he suffered the serious injury that threatened his career. Warnock’s conviction that the Scotland full-back with five caps would add something missing to the Bluebirds was borne out by Paterson’s 54-minute cameo appearance off the bench in the goalless draw.

Dewi Griffiths Runs Into Welsh History In Astonishing Marathon Debut

Dewi Griffiths ran the fastest marathon by a Briton since Mo Farah’s debut in London in 2014 (2:08.21) as he finished fifth in his first trip over the 26.2 mile distance in Frankfurt. His time of 2:09:48 was the second fastest of all-time by a Welsh runner, behind former world record holder Steve Jones’ 2:07.13, and put him 15th on the UK rankings. But while the 26-year-old Swansea Harrier was pleased with his latest PB of an amazing 2017 he believes there is still more to come in the future. His time was a Commonwealth Games A stand for the Gold Coast next year and also qualified him for the British team for next year’s European Championships.

Steve Tandy Admits Sam Cross Wales Surprise – But Backs Him For Autumn Stormer

Steve Tandy admits he was surprised at Sam Cross’ call-up by Wales, but still believes the 15-a-side novice can help Warren Gatland’s side play a more expansive game. The Olympic Games sevens silver medalist’s shock selection for the Under Armour Series next month was the pinnacle of a wonderful week for the 25-year-old flanker. It came only three days after his Ospreys debut, which was his first professional game of 15-a-side rugby. “As far as weeks go, this is the best I have ever had. I’m excited, surprised, but I just can’t wait to get started,” said Cross.

Dewi Griffiths Makes Marathon Debut In Germany

Dewi Griffiths has already hit the Commonwealth Games A standard for the 5,000 and 10,000 metres this year and on Sunday (29 October) he hopes to make it a hat-trick when he makes his marathon debut in Frankfurt. The 26-year-old has run faster and faster every time he has got to the start line in 2017 and last weekend picked up the Welsh Athletics Senior Off-Track athlete of the year award. While he doesn’t intern to run in the marathon on the Gold Coast next year, he is hoping to qualify for the 2018 European Championships. “The qualifying mark for the Euros is 2:16.00 and I hope to run faster than that. I’m looking forward to having a go at the marathon although I’m not sure what is going to happen after 20 miles,” said Griffiths.

Rob Howley’s Wish List – Leave Wales And Be A Head Coach In England Or France

Rob Howley has sent out a ‘gis a job’ message to the top clubs in England and France after confirming he will leave his Welsh post after the 2019 World Cup. The 47-year-old Howley will have completed an 11 year stint as one of Warren Gatland’s right hand men for both Wales and the British & Irish Lions after the Japan tournament and then wants to try his hand at club level.  “It is on a bucket list of mine that I want to coach in the Premiership or France. Paul Clement Insists Swans Form Shows Upturn Is Coming

Paul Clement remains upbeat about Swansea City’s ability to move away from the relegation zone, despite their defeat at Arsenal. The Swans lost 2-1 after Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey struck the winner and the visitors could now find themselves in the bottom three on Sunday if Everton avoid defeat at Leicester. But with a key home game next when Brighton come to the Liberty Stadium, Clement insisted there was sufficient in the display against the Gunners – where Swansea took the lead – for him to be positive.
