Wayne Pivac Finds A Backer In Eddie Jones . . . While Joe Marler Proves He’s A Ball-Ache All Over Again

Wayne Pivac says ending his disappointing first Six Nations campaign as Wales coach with a resounding win over Scotland next weekend is a “no brainer” following the 33-30 defeat by England on Saturday. The New Zealander has seen his side slip to three successive defeats – after opening with a 42-0 whitewash of hapless Italy – for the first time since the 2007 Six Nations. That dismal run came just before his compatriot Warren Gatland took over and enjoyed a highly successful 12-year tenure.

Meticulous Josh Navidi Aiming For A Healthy Win Over England

Josh Navidi believes Wales can do a clinical job against England at Twickenham on Saturday – almost as clinical as the precautions the squad have followed this week in order to stay healthy. With the coronavirus now having a deep impact on sport – and in particular a significant effect on the Six Nations – Navidi has revealed that extra measures have been followed within the squad to avoid any possible contagion. As Premier League footballers have been ordered to stop handshaking and high-fiving, with games in Europe being played behind closed doors, or postponed altogether like the tournament’s Ireland v Italy and Italy v England fixtures, then it’s clear the effects are growing day-by-day.

Eddie Jones Vows: We Owe One To Wales

Eddie Jones has said England “owe Wales one” after their painful defeat in Cardiff last year as they prepare for Saturday’s resumption of old rivalries at Twickenham. France are the only team left in the Six Nations who can complete a Grand Slam but England could yet be crowned champions if Les Bleus stumble in the final two rounds. For Wales, it is about preventing a third straight defeat after losing to Ireland and France, but they do have the confidence of last season’s 21-13 victory in Cardiff on the way to their own Grand Slam.

Six Nations TV Cash Comes With A Price . . . And It’s Not Worth Paying

After the Six Nations admitted nothing was off the table – including big bags of cash – when it comes to negotiating the next TV deal for the tournament from 2022, Robin Davey says the pay back would be unacceptable. For every pound gained, there would be a future follower lost. Surely not! Surely, the Six Nations chiefs are not going to succumb, they’re not going to take the money and say to hell with the general public. For right now the very future of the ever-popular Six Nations tournament and its television rights are up for discussion.
