A humbling 3-1 defeat for Cardiff at home defeat to Bradford City was followed by an even more shocking and unexpected loss on home soil to strugglers Burton Albion.
Granted, these results in the Welsh capital were sandwiched by magnificent away victories against Wigan and then Premier League Burnley in the EFL Cup third round - but the glum defeat to the Brewers left a sour taste with Si, from the DragonSports YouTube channel.
"Cardiff have got to look in the mirror. Not good enough," he said.
"They'll be very disappointed after the last couple of games and the way they've performed."
Despite describing the 1-0 defeat as "pretty sickening", Brian Barry-Murphy can still take huge heart from his side's performance against Gary Bowyer's outfit.
The Bluebirds were dominant, enjoying 77% of the possession while having 20 shots, eight of which were on target.
They made 596 passes, more than three times as many as Burton (173) managed, and they faced just two shots on target.
Unfortunately, from their perspective, one of those saw 21-year-old Charlie Webster score his third goal of the campaign to earn the visitors all three points and their first ever EFL triumph in Wales.
Nevertheless, Si still firmly believes that Cardiff should have made more of their openings and that they must be better prepared when it comes to facing such stubborn opposition in future.
"Yes, it was a smash and grab and yes, Burton Albion put 11 men behind the ball and didn't try and play football. But Cardiff have got to expect that . . . that's what teams are going to do," he said.
"Ultimately, there's two sides to it. Cardiff absolutely had the chances to put the game to bed, and they didn't take them.
"Unfortunately, the lack of a clinical finish and sharpness in the final third has cost them three points. The manager won't be happy with that."
Goalkeeper Brad Collins being named Burton's man-of-the-match was a telling indicator of how the visitors approached the contest.
Their boss, Bowyer, was fully aware that his side were in for a tough evening at Cardiff City Stadium, with the 54-year-old lauding Barry-Murphy as a "great manager".
"We knew we were coming to a very difficult place," he said after his side's narrow victory.
"They've got a great manager, the way that they're coached and the way that they play, we knew we were up against it. We knew that we wouldn't see a lot of the ball."
So, the clear challenge now is for this youthful new-look Cardiff side to find ways of capitalising on their control, with Barry-Murphy saying his team "need to learn how to turn that dominance into wins going forward this season".
Their next opponents, Leyton Orient, enjoyed a magnificent season last time out, finishing sixth in the third tier before suffering heartache in the play-off final against Charlton at Wembley.

But Richie Wellens' men have had a slow start to the current campaign having won just three of their opening 10 league matches.
The style match-up should certainly prove intriguing given that The O's tend to control matches, as Cardiff now do under their Irish boss.
Indeed, they have an average possession of 57.7% this term, the fourth-highest amount in the league. For context, Cardiff are the most dominant at 64%.
However, Orient's defensive struggles will no doubt be a major focus for Barry-Murphy and his coaching staff when going through their pre-match opposition analysis sessions.
No side has conceded more than the London side's tally of 18 goals so far in League One this season, and when comparing goals conceded versus the defensive xG rate, their figure of 4.01 is the worst in the division.

Cardiff are at the exact opposite end of that table having conceded minus 4.01 goals against the amount expected to be conceded, such has been their impressive defensive effort this season.
So there is plenty of encouragement for the Bluebirds to enjoy more home comforts again in the near future.
That is something that will be key, given that they will have played four successive games on their own patch across all competitions before their next away fixture with Bolton on October 25.
