Fearnley
The Fearnley brand dates back to 1955 when Duncan Fearnley
first started to make cricket bats in Yorkshire. Whilst playing cricket during
the summer months Duncan subsidised his income by making bats for sale during
the winter. After finishing his professional career at Worcestershire in 1968
he decided to concentrate on his love of making cricket bats forming the
Duncan Fearnley company, initially just selling cricket bats.
At this point Duncan wanted to innovate and was the first to introduce a
proper logo on a bat giving birth to the famous black wicket symbol,
which is internationally recognised today.
Colours were gradually
introduced and top players such as Dennis Amiss, Basil D'Oliveira and
Graeme Pollock started to use the product, leading to the expansion
of the product ranges in the 1970's with the introduction of gloves, pads etc.
Other notable international players came on board, including Ian Botham,
Viv Richards, Glenn Turner, Graham Gooch, Sunil Gavaskar, Allan Border
and Martin Crowe and by the mid 1980's the Duncan Fearnley spiralled
to be the No. 1 cricket brand throughout the world.
Today, 45 years on, Duncan still makes cricket bats at the brand's
factory in Worcester and the wicket logo is still as it was 32 years ago,
synonymous with quality, value for money and excellence throughout the world of cricket.
Today the product ranges cover all aspects of the game encompassing bats,
equipment, clothing, footwear and recently, the introduction of hardware,
including the new Fearnley Flicx pitches, bowling machines and other related products.
